Abstract

In this article, we approach the scientific concern that there is in Psychology from the perspective of the French philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty, emphasizing the author’s approach of Gestalt’s psychology and psychoanalysis. According to the philosopher, Human Sciences deal with their internal contradictions and present a spontaneous development. The instability of the Human Sciences between objectivity and subjectivity leads to their constant revision of the interrelations between these two points. In fact, it is observed that these sciences, including psychology, are working towards a better circumscription of their study object. In this matter, the researcher is the actor of constant self-criticism, he is the referee of conflicts between the realistic and intellectualistic perspectives. The Gestalt psychology and psychoanalysis played a positive role in Merleau-Ponty’s philosophy and represented the “psychologist’s self-criticism” movement in it which, followed and radicalized, revealed these psychologies’ “true inspirations” and makes it possible to elaborate new philosophical reflection instruments.
